The honest guide to cashing in. Where to sell, when to sell, how to price, and how to ship without losing money. No fluff. No hype.
Each channel has pros and cons. Here's the honest breakdown.
The giant. Largest audience, best prices, but fees bite.
Fast cash, in-person. But they'll lowball you.
Face-to-face, feel the cards, negotiate directly.
They sell for you, take a cut. Good for expensive cards.
Don't guess. Research. Here's the playbook.
Not "asking" prices — actual sales. Filter to "sold" and you'll see what cards actually changed hands for. This is your truth.
Free. Shows how many of your card exist at each grade. Low pop + high grade = price goes up.
Search by card title or cert number. Pulls eBay sold data, gives you market ranges. Solid free tool.
For Raw Cards:
Check 5-10 sold listings → Take the average → Price 10-15% below (you're selling, not buying)
For Graded Cards:
Find same card, same grade, sold on eBay → Use that price → Adjust for market trends
For Bulk Lots:
Research a few cards, estimate rest → Price 40-60% below total value (buyers want a deal)
💡 When in doubt, price to sell. A fast sale beats a slow "perfect" price.
Timing matters. Here's when to pull the trigger.
When the hobby is trending — new record sales, viral TikToks, media coverage — buyers are active. Strike while the iron is hot.
When a player's career is at its peak — championship, MVP, record-breaking — their cards peak too. Don't wait for the decline.
Once graded, sell within 30 days. Market conditions change. A PSA 9 today might be worth less in 6 months.
Rookie card prices peak around the player's second or third year. After that, value stabilizes or drops unless they're a superstar.
🚫 When NOT to Sell
Don't panic sell in a down market. If you're not in a rush, hold. The hobby moves in cycles. Patience can pay off.
Your card arrived perfect. Don't blow it at shipping.
Penny sleeve + team bag → rigid mailer. Tracking required. Cost: $0.50-1.50

Price 10-15% below market. You'll sell faster and still get fair value. Overpricing = card sits for months.
Use natural light. Show front AND back. Close up on corners. Real photos beat stock images every time.
List the year, brand, card number, player, and condition honestly. Vague listings = low offers or no offers.
Respond to questions fast. Ship same day. Pack perfect. 100% positive feedback = higher prices and repeat buyers.
For rare cards: auctions can drive prices up. For commons: Buy It Now at fair price moves faster.
eBay gives you 250 free listings/month. Use them. Only pay fees when it sells.
Now you know where, when, how, and how much. No excuses. Time to sell.
