What’s in the Football Collection

The groups we sort the football inventory into — from vintage Topps through today’s Panini rookies.

Vintage Topps

Vintage Topps football from the era when the set was the whole hobby. Every card’s year, set and card number confirmed, with corners, edges and centering noted honestly. Old cardboard shows its age; we tell you exactly how.

80s–90s

Score, Pro Set, Upper Deck and Fleer. The years football cards went mass-market, which means deep, affordable inventory and plenty of complete sets worth building. Check centering and corners closely on this era.

90s Inserts & Chrome

Refractors, die-cuts and short-print inserts from the decade that invented chase cards. These are scarcer than the base cards from the same years, and condition separates a good copy from a great one.

Modern Rookies

Panini Prizm, Donruss Optic, Bowman and Topps Chrome. Check the parallel and any serial numbering carefully — it is what separates two copies of the same card, and it is the difference between a base rookie and a chase card.

Graded Slabs

We sell raw singles and graded slabs from PSA, Beckett (BGS), CGC, SGC, GMA and BCCG. PSA, BGS, SGC and CGC are the most widely recognized; GMA and BCCG are budget graders that buyers typically value lower. We list the grader on every slab so you know exactly what you’re buying, and every cert number is verified before it lists.

For New Collectors

New to Football Cards? Start Here.

Football cards had a huge print run in the late 80s and early 90s, which makes them cheap to start with and easy to misjudge. Three things worth knowing before you spend anything.

1

Learn the set year before the player.

A football card’s identity is year, set and card number — not just the name on the front. Score, Pro Set and Topps all printed vast numbers of cards in the same few years, and only some of them are worth chasing. Always confirm the year and set.

2

Mass-produced is not the same as worthless.

The junk-wax era is full of cards that are cheap because millions exist — but it is also where complete sets and base rookies stay affordable for new collectors. Buy it because you want the card, not because you expect it to climb.

3

Buy raw first, grade later.

Grading costs money and takes time, and not every card is worth it. Start with raw singles you like, learn to judge condition yourself, and only slab the cards that genuinely deserve it.
